Greetings Neighbors:
We would like to thank you for your previous support. Unfortunately, we were unable to conduct our annual fund drive this past year due to the pandemic. It has brought new challenges for the volunteer members of the Miller Place Fire Department. While a majority of the community sheltered in their residences, the volunteer members of the Fire Department placed themselves in harm’s way responding to numerous COVID-19 calls in addition to our traditional emergency calls. Our volunteers respond to your emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and train many hours to prepare for these emergencies. Volunteer firefighting has been in existence since Benjamin Franklin organized the first fire brigade called the “Union Fire Company” in 1736. Please help us keep this long standing tradition by making a tax-free donation today. In addition to emergencies, we also provide many community services which include ambulance standbys at the High School sporting events, fire prevention instruction at the primary and secondary schools, hanging a banner for one of the many community based organizations and escorting Santa throughout our community neighborhoods and on to the annual community tree lighting. Your tax-free donation will help in continuing these services preformed by our volunteer members. We also have a Boy Scout sanctioned Explorer program comprised of Junior Firefighters who are taught firefighting and emergency services skills. Many of these Juniors proudly move up to become active members of the Department when they turn 17.
Supporting the Miller Place Fire Department can extend beyond a financial contribution. As a volunteer organization we are always looking for new members. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician, FireFighter or a Junior Explorer, please call the firehouse or log onto our website for further information on joining.
